CHALLENGE INTERNATIONAL DU VIN 2020
For the fourth consecutive year, Bordeaux Congress Centre will be hosting Challenge International du Vin, an international wine competition.
The 44th edition of Challenge International du Vin will be held on 18 July 2020 at the Bordeaux Congress Centre.
Organised by Concours des Vins (CDV) since 1976, Challenge International du Vin is the largest and oldest international wine and spirits competition organised in France.
Historically, the competition has presented all types of wine products: red wine, rosé, dry and sweet white wines, sparkling wines, natural sweet wines, liqueur wines and eau-de-vie (made from wine only), without forgetting organic wines.
Challenge International du Vin marks the gradual resumption of events in Bordeaux after coming to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Bordeaux Events team has worked in close collaboration with Nathalie Warnez, the new Director of Concours des Vins, to organise the event while implementing all the necessary health measures.
Due to current circumstances, the competition will be held for one day rather than the usual two. Bordeaux Congress Centre will only host the tasting of red wines in the Multipurpose Area.
The layout has been adapted to comply with physical distancing rules. There will still be four tasters per table, but they will be spaced further apart than in previous years. Due to these circumstances, the surface area for the invent has increased, from 2,000 m² to 3,000 m².
All the measures included in the health guidelines established by Bordeaux events will be implemented in order to welcome participants in the best possible sanitary conditions, including visitor flows, regular disinfection of areas, and hand sanitizer.
This year 2,400 wine samples will be blind tasted by winemakers, wine retailers, wine merchants and cellar masters, along with wine enthusiasts, since the tasting is open to a broad audience. Some 300 judging panels will gather on 18 July to taste the wines at the Bordeaux Congress Centre.
At the end of the competition, the best wines will receive medals (gold, silver, bronze), offering true recognition for producers and a quality guarantee for consumers. The winning bottles will be able to decorate their labels with the famous sticker. In addition to the award, this competition offers winners a true marketing advantage.
