CONGRÈS HLM 2020 - SOCIAL HOUSING CONVENTION IN BORDEAUX
Union Sociale pour l'Habitat (Social Union for Housing) will return to Bordeaux in autumn 2020 for its 81st social housing convention (Congrès HLM)
The 81st social housing convention (Congrès HLM) hosted by Union Sociale pour l'Habitat will be held from 22 to 24 September at Palais 2 l'Atlantique in Bordeaux. After much thought due to the Covid-19 crisis, the organisers decided to maintain this key event for the social housing industry.
“We commend the determination of Union Sociale pour l'Habitat, for staying the course during this complex period and thank the organising team for their trust.”
-Karine Santamaria, Director of Bordeaux Events.
For 3 days, Congrès HLM will bring together social housing authorities and their partner companies, local elected officials, associations and the media to discuss housing policy and social housing.
This convention is a key autumn event for the entire housing sector, which is all the more necessary in a post-crisis situation. Approximately 12,000 convention participants are expected for this 81st edition.
Palais 2 l'Atlantique will host the plenary sessions, meeting rooms and press area. The lounges, exhibition area and restaurant/cocktail area will be set up in Hall 1 of Bordeaux Exhibition Centre.
The event will be held in compliance with appropriate sanitary guidelines.
The plenary room set-up will be able to accommodate 3,000 people, filled to half-capacity, with every other seat empty to allow for social distancing. The area of the exhibition space will remain the same, but walkways between the stands will be widened to avoid contact.
The theme of the 81st edition of Congrès HLM will be “Succeed”, which is particularly appropriate given the current context. A plenary meeting will address possible ways forward in ensuring recovery after the Covid-19 crisis. Innovation and environmental transition will also be important themes addressed throughout the convention.
The event will end with the Social Housing Innovation Awards. Twelve finalists will be selected to pitch their project during the plenary meeting. The goal is to promote and encourage new initiatives and creativity among social housing organisations for the benefit of résidents.
